Hunney - LOCAL's Story

Now in New England!!! Meet and Greets possible!

"The things that make me different are the things that make me me" - Piglet, Winnie the Pooh
Know what else we learned from Winnie the Pooh? That every day is better with a little Hunney in it! Here's your chance to have a little Hunney in your life every single day!

Meet Hunney
Hunney is a 4-year-old, 66-pound mixed breed love, ready to find her forever home! She's likely a blend of several breeds, and every one of them brings something special to her personality.

Hunney's journey to finding her forever home has been a bit longer than most. When she was first found as a stray, she was pregnant and soon gave birth to 8 adorable pups--her "Hunney's Bunnies." She was an amazing mom and watched all her puppies find their own homes. She found her own home 3 and a half years ago, but that didn't work out as we had hoped. Recently, she had a bit of a falling-out with a resident dog who was actually one of her puppies. Hunney was not the aggressor, but the two just didn't get along. The result of this altercation is that she can get tense when meeting other dogs. Her new family will need to be mindful of her need for space and time to warm up to new canine friends. No rough play for Hunney--she's more of a laid-back lady when it comes to canine companionship.

What You Need to Know About Hunney
Hunney is an absolute gem! She's housetrained, has a gentle disposition, and loves playing fetch and going on walks. She's still young and has plenty of energy, so she needs regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. Unfortunately, Hunney gained a bit of weight during her time in her first home and would greatly benefit from a more active home that can give her the exercise she needs to get back to her ideal weight. She doesn't need to hike mountains or go on long runs (and probably wouldn't like that all that much) but a walk or two a day and maybe some play time in a fenced yard (not required) would be a dream for her.

She loves being outside, especially when she can zoom around the yard or soak up some sun. After a good play session, she's happy to cuddle up with her people and relax. Hunney is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

Her Perfect Home
Hunney's ideal home would be calm, low-traffic, and one that can provide her with regular opportunities for exercise. She thrives in a peaceful environment where she can feel safe and secure. Hunney absolutely loves people, but she prefers to approach them on her own terms, rather than being rushed or crowded.

Special Notes
Hunney was born with a condition called Carpal Valgus (an outward turning of the paw), which is purely a visual difference and causes her no pain. She doesn't let this "funky arm" slow her down one bit and continues to live life to the fullest. When she gets the zoomies, you will notice she hikes up her funky arm so she can zoom at full speed on her other three legs. No cause for alarm there! It's just one of those things that makes Hunney Hunney!

If you think Hunney could be the perfect fit for your home, don't wait--apply for her today!

Name: Hunney
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Sex: Female
Age: 4 years 5 months (estimated)
Weight: 73.0 (she could stand to lose a few pounds and would be much happier in the 65 pound range)
Spayed/Neutered: yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: negative
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Yes
Good with Dogs: MAYBE but she gets very nervous around other dogs.
Good with Cats: Probably not

Adoption Fee: $250.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)

Location of dog currently: New England

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
