HUNK's Story

My name is Hunk and I've been at the shelter for half a year. I was going for a walk and followed my nose all the way to Jack In The Box... I'm a big foodie! As I was sniffing around for scraps I seen a dog with it's owner. I figured they might want to play so I ran over but the owner didn't let me say hi. I know, I'm kind of a big guy at around 60lbs so I get it. A nice lady brought me to the shelter since I was lost. Shelter life has been kind of stressful for me. I'm having a hard time coping inside a kennel. I enjoy playing in the yard or going for walks with other dogs but once I'm in the kennel I start to bouncy off the walls... like literally. When I'm in the kennel I get fired up with anxiety and became overly excited when I seen other people. It was getting so bad I was injuring my own tail which was amputated to protect me. On the bright side, I have the cutest nub! I'm currently in a foster home and really showing off how good of a boy I am. I'm know a ton of cues and as a bonus, I'm potty trained (wink). I like using my crate to rest in, as my own personal safe haven. And a crate is NOT the same as a kennel! My foster is pretty chill so I just quietly hang around the house with her, chillin'. I'm not bothered by the door bell or visitors or even the fireworks this past 4th of July. Aside from walks to exercise my body, I like to exercise my brain too with training classes at the shelter. I'm learning how to be a Canine Good Citizen for my future family. I'm always the star in the class compared to my friends. My teacher gives me the advanced work when we practice things I know. I'm good looking, smart and down to Earth... what more can you ask for in a guy!? Please contact the shelter to meet me and consider taking me home. My foster home is short term and it is just too stressful at the shelter for me... I desperately need a permanent home!
