Humphrey's Story

Humphrey is a sweet, loyal, and affectionate boy whose owner has health issues causing her to surrender him to rescue.

This handsome boy enjoys playing sniff games and is great at entertaining himself with his toys. He is happiest when he is with his people, and he loves to cuddle. He has graduated from obedience school and responds to basic commands (sit, down, look, place, touch, wait, etc).

Humphrey is a very loving and friendly boy who bonds deeply with his people. He does best when introductions to new people are handled calmly and in a controlled environment, which helps him feel safe and comfortable. Humphrey can be uneasy around unfamiliar dogs and strangers, especially when passing them on walks or seeing them from the car, so he will thrive with an adopter who understands his need for structure and guidance.
He also takes his backyard security duties seriously and is quick to let the neighborhood squirrels and bunnies know they are not welcome visitors.

Humphrey prefers not to be left alone for long periods and currently takes medication to help manage his anxiety. With consistency, patience, and lots of reassurance, he continues to do well.

Overall, Humphrey is a smart, loyal, and eager-to-please companion who forms strong connections with the people he trusts. He has so much love to give and will reward the right home with endless affection, devotion, and companionship.

Name: Humphrey
Breed: Hound/Crossbreed (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).
Sex: Male
Age: 10 months (estimated)
Weight: 41.0
Spayed/Neutered: yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on recent testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Older kids yes
Good with Dogs: unknown
Good with Cats: unknown

Adoption Fee: $550.00

Location of dog currently: New England

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
