Hugo will need daily exercise & play time to burn his energy. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered as we do not feel these would set him up for success.<br/><br/>*COAT TYPE: He has a soft curly low-shedding coat. Hugo will need regular brushing and grooming to prevent matting every 8-12 weeks (approximately $120/groom). His hair was just groomed before he came into his foster home.<br/><br/>*ENERGY LEVEL: Medium energy, loves people and gets excited to meet other dogs, sometimes takes a bit of time to warm up to new people entering the home.<br/><br/>*DOGS: Hugo has been introduced to the resident Doodles in his foster home and likes to play with other dogs. Hugo is content without another dog nearby, but would like a family that is home more often than not if he will be the only dog. He likes to run around with his ball toys but hasn’t caught on to fetch. He loves people, kids, and other dogs!<br/><br/>*CATS: unknown; he has had no exposure to cats in his foster home.<br/><br/>*KIDS: No kids in his foster home but has met several and done well.<br/><br/>*CAR: Does great in the car! He hops in and settles in quickly.<br/>.<br/>*CRATE: Hugo is crated at night and when we are not home and will settle in but prefers to be out with his family and will voice his displeasure. He likely does not need a crate and hasn’t gotten into things when out of the crate.<br/><br/>*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He has had no accidents in the house and will go outside.<br/><br/>*LEASH: Hugo enjoys walks but could use some training for walking on leash. He is mostly good but can pull at first or if he sees something exciting like a squirrel. <br/><br/>*VET: A little nervous at the vet (new people) but did well.<br/><br/>*VETTING: Hugo is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies), dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative.<br/><br/>*GROOMING: Will require regular brushing, which he does not seem to mind. He will also need trimming on a regular basis.<br/><br/>MORE DETAILS ABOUT HUGO:<br/><br/>Hugo is a 2 year old male Goldendoodle who was surrendered to IDOG by his family as an elderly family member was moving in with them.<br/><br/>He would do fine as the only dog in his new home; and he would love to have another playful dog to keep him company. He loves to be by your side, would be a perfect companion for someone that works from home and wants company.<br/><br/>He is very food-motivated and loves treats. He is a goofy loving boy who wants to be by your side all the time.<br/><br/>Hugo enjoys staying close to you and loves to put his head in your lap for pets or get chin scratches. He will likely be at your feet or by your side as much as allowed. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We do not transport our dogs.<br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE: $550<br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:<br/>Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses.
