Hugo's Story

Say hello to Hugo #1110! He’s a 10-year-old chiweenie the color of butterscotch and is just as sweet. He weighs a very liftable 13 pounds, which is perfect because whoever adopts him is going to be lifting him up for a zillion hugs and smooches.

Hugo seeks a doggy brother or sister who is confident and doesn’t mind a little sass from a short king. He’s been taking notes from the dogs in his foster home on how to play and behave in new situations. He would also love a cat, although cats may not be as big of fans of his Pick-Me attitude, as Hugo tries hard to get their attention. A MUST is a home full of fleece blankets, as Hugo’s favorite pastime is burrowing into them at naptime.

Hugo walks well on a leash and would likely do well in any kind of yard situation, although he doesn’t like to go out by himself. He’s still working on getting on a potty schedule and doesn’t mind sporting fancy belly bands as the need arises. He’s allowed loose to free-roam while his foster family is away but doesn’t object to crate time either. And he’ll do anything for a snack! He spins and jumps high in the air with glee at the mere thought.

Unfortunately, Hugo has tested positive for heartworm. He is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow him to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of his heartworm treatment, then adopt him once he is heartworm free.

Apply for Hugo at https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption and then run to the store to stock up on fleecies...you're going to need them!

MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises.
