Hugo's Story

Hugo is a 65lbs, senior, pittie mix looking for his forever human(s) to help him make the last part of his life THE BEST PART. He is thought to be around 10-12 years old, but Hugo reminds us that age is just a number and you are never too old for new beginnings.

Hugo was picked up as a dirty ‘stray’ walking around Houston with a large tumor (it wasn’t cancer and was benign…yay!) dangling from his side. He seems to have had a home at one point— he’s comfortable and loving with people, has decent leash walking skills, and someone went thru the trouble of giving him ‘at home crop job’ leaving his ears butchered. Unfortunately, he quickly found himself at the top of the euthanasia list due to his age. That’s when MHCR decided to help.

After arriving into rescue, Hugo got a makeover—neuter, tumor removal, and an extensive dental cleaning with numerous extractions. He was a total champ! He is doing well with a great attitude and had beautiful levels on his bloodwork!

Hugo is looking for a nice retirement home without a ton of hustle and bustle. He does have arthritis and appreciates not having to do a lot of stairs, though he would never admit it and still thinks he can do all the things. He also doesn’t hear very well, but he doesn’t seem to mind; in fact, he’s a character and sometimes we suspect maybe his hearing is just selective. He loves meals, occasional strolls, comfy beds, and is a low maintenance fellow. Hugo is ready to give his forever humans all the love in the world for as long as they are lucky to have him. He also likes kids, other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats!

Hugo is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado.

*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.*

You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/hugo/.

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
