Hugo's Story

How Hugo arrived: Hugo was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on December 30, 2025. Why Hugo is the one for you:Hugo is a charming little soul who is ready to find a soft place to land and a family to call his own. While he might start off as a bit of a grumbly old man with plenty of get off my lawn vibes, he is truly a sweet and playful companion once he knows he is safe. Hugo loves to take life at his own pace, often found sunbathing or relaxing on his bed after a spirited round of play with a canine friend. He is quite the independent thinker who expresses his personality through adorable little grumbles and a love for cozying up in his crate. This resilient fellow is looking for a patient home where he can receive a little extra care for his cloudy eyes and skin, ensuring he stays as comfortable as he is cute. Building a bond with Hugo is a rewarding journey that simply requires a steady routine and a steady supply of tasty treats. Though he prefers to move through the world on his own four paws rather than walking on a leash, he is a wonderful friend to other dogs and thrives in a calm environment. With a Hugo-sized amount of patience and some gentle baby talk, you will get to see his playful and loyal nature truly shine. Please remember to bring a leash and collar when adopting to help him transition safely into your heart and home. At SDHS:Hugo has been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.Shy/Fearful Dog: Hugo requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.
