Hugo's Story

What an amazing cool calm collected dog. He has great house manners, sleeps in the crate, no separation anxiety, no resource guarding. He apparently does seem to think that walks are absolutely fantastic and will bring you random shoes from time to time as a reminder. He’s currently in a foster home with two other female dogs and they absolutely adore him. They wrestle, lay in the dog bed together play tug and are just best friends.

Hugo has no stranger danger and any person walking into the home gets a very nice calm appropriate greeting. He doesn’t jump on people and doesn’t get overly excited. In his foster home he isn’t allowed on the couch or bed and does great with that.

Outside he does use his big nose to sniff out all the animals that live on the property. He would prefer chasing the deer/rabbits and squirrels but is manageable when he sees them.

We’re not sure how he would do with children and because we have no history with children we will probably put him with kids 15+ years old.

Hugo was picked up as a stray so we have no former history on him. Our rescue got Hugo from Franklin County Humane Society. There he was fantastic with all dogs of all ages and sizes. He denned with a grumpy female and she ruled the roost. If she wanted the dog bed she would “kick” him out and he would lay elsewhere. He would also den with other large males. Since we have had him he has reacted negatively to one large male dog.

This dog is an absolute gem and somebody will be very happy and lucky to adopt him. He will make you smile every day and be a buddy by your side.

Weighing in at 70 lbs and we think he’s about 3 years old.
