Meet Hughie<br/><br/>At 2 years old and about 60 lbs, Hughie is everything people love about German Shepherds - loyal, smart, and incredibly people-focused.<br/><br/>Hughie’s journey started when he was found as a stray and picked up by the police, who noted right away just how friendly he was, even happily hanging out and playing near cats! He made his way to ACCT Philly and quickly won hearts there before being transferred to us.<br/><br/>In the shelter, Hughie showed off his easygoing, social nature. He had positive dog meets, approaching with a loose body, mid-tail wags, and polite curiosity. He enjoys a good sniff-and-greet and is comfortable being sniffed in return. He’s also a dream to handle - easy to leash, walks nicely, and absolutely melts into affection. If you stop petting him, don’t be surprised if he leans in for more with those soft eyes and gentle ears turned to the side.<br/><br/>Since joining us, Hughie has continued to show what a great boy he is. He’s social, eager to engage with volunteers, and already knows “sit.” He thrives on interaction and connection, and you can tell he truly enjoys being part of the action.<br/><br/>Hughie would do best in a German Shepherd–experienced home that understands his breed’s needs for structure, engagement, and companionship.
