Hudson's Story

There are some dogs you choose because you know they need you.

And then there are dogs like Hudson — the ones you choose because, honestly, you cannot imagine why someone else hasn't already chosen them.

Almost a year ago, we were looking at the dogs waiting to come to Pennsylvania and Hudson stood out.

He was a great size. He was a wonderful dog. He was undeniably handsome. He was the kind of adult dog we hoped would be an easy “yes” for someone.

So we brought him here.

Next week, Hudson will have officially been available for adoption for one full year.

One year.

And somehow, this incredibly good boy is still waiting for his person.

We talk a lot about saving more adult dogs. We want to say yes to more of them. We want to give them the chance they deserve. But the reality is that adult dogs have become increasingly difficult to place.

And that leaves us asking a really hard question:

How do we save more adult lives if dogs like Hudson — dogs who are loving, manageable, a great size, good with other dogs, house trained, crate trained and essentially move-in ready — can spend an entire year waiting for someone to see them?

We don't have a good answer.

What we do know is that Hudson deserves better than being the dog everyone thinks is someone else's perfect dog.

Because he really is pretty darn close to perfect.

Hudson is a happy-go-lucky guy with a heart full of love and a personality that fills the room. He's compact enough to fit easily into your life, but he has plenty of energy for walks, adventures and playtime.

And when the fun is over? Hudson knows how to settle in and enjoy the best part of the day — being close to his people.

He's affectionate. He's playful. He's smart. He's house trained. He's crate trained. He knows his basic commands. He loves other dogs. And he will happily shower his favorite people with kisses and affection.

He doesn't need someone to “fix” him.

He doesn't need months of training before he can become part of your family.

He just needs someone to finally say:

“Yep. That's my dog.”

A year is a long time for any dog to wait.

And we don't want Hudson's story to become a story about how long he waited.

We want it to become the story about the day someone finally found him.

Please share Hudson. Not because he's the saddest dog. Not because he has a heartbreaking story. Not because he's difficult.

Share him because he's a really, really good dog who somehow got overlooked.

And if a dog this wonderful can be overlooked for a year, maybe the most important thing we can do is make sure more people see him.

Let's get Hudson home.

Hudson is part of our Meet Me Program. Because Mostly Muttz Rescue is foster-based and does not have a physical shelter, this program gives potential adopters the opportunity to connect directly with the people who know Hudson best. His foster or dedicated volunteer can answer questions about his day-to-day life and arrange an individual meet & greet at an approved location, either before applying or while an application is pending.

To learn more or arrange a meet & greet, email meet_me@mostlymuttz.org with your contact information and mention Hudson.

Hudson is located in a loving foster home in Townsend, New Castle County, Delaware.

Learn more about Hudson: https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2453978&name=Hudson

www.mostlymuttz.org

#mostlymuttzrescue #adoptadog #adoptme #adopt #rescuedog #mrhandsome #adoptable

And then there are dogs like Hudson — the ones you choose because, honestly, you cannot imagine why someone else hasn't already chosen them.

Almost a year ago, we were looking at the dogs waiting to come to Pennsylvania and Hudson stood out.

How do we save more adult lives if dogs like Hudso

We don't have a good answer.

What we do know is that Hudson deserves better than being the dog everyone thinks is someone else's perfect dog.

Because he really is pretty darn close
