Huckleberry's Story

Huckleberry I know what you’re thinking. 'This little guy is cute and all, but puppies need a lot of training.' Well guess what? I already know All.The.Things. Okay, maybe not all. Maybe half. Or maybe less than half. I don’t know how many things exactly, because I haven’t learned math yet. But, if you want a puppy who is potty trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, takes cues and redirection, and is past the stabby jaws phase, plus super soft and cuddly - I’m your Huckleberry! And that’s my name! I used to have a home with a fluffy bed and lots of toys, plus a couple of cats. I went to a board and train while I was there and also a doctor who removed my dangly bits. They didn’t have the time for me though, so now I’m in the market for a new home where I can keep learning, keep playing, go for lots of walks, get lots of pets, and have a family who will love me forever and ever. A little about me. I’m a pretty chill dude. My birthday is October 14th, 2025. I’m a Libra. I like car rides, walks, playing fetch, playing with dogs, playing with cats, greeting people, meeting little kids–who are just short people that smell like peanut butter–and napping. I also love learning. In my foster home, I have learned to sit and wait for my food patiently. Okay, not always patiently. Sometimes, I whine a little when it takes too long to get my food ready (why does it take soooo long?) But it’s all good. I know it’s coming and that the other dogs aren’t going to steal it. Do you like to snuggle at night while you’re relaxing? Me too! I love to just chill out after dinner. I also sleep all through the night on my dog bed in the bedroom. That’s how good I am. I wouldn’t mind sleeping in a bed with a human either, but if you’re not okay with that, I don’t judge. I like being outside too. Sometimes, I just hang out in the yard watching the world go by, contemplating the mysteries of life. Like who really is the Best Boy? My foster mom asks me that all the time, and I’m determined to find the answer for her. Because I’m a people pleaser. But not in a toxic way. In a good way. In a ‘I’d like to help you fold the laundry, but I don’t have thumbs’ kind of way. So if all of that sounds good to you, then I’d love to meet you! You can email info@greatdanefriends.com to get an application for me. I’ll need a fenced-in yard to do my world-watching thing.<br/>*****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Please email us for an application or if you have any questions.*****
