Huck (WA)'s Story
ADOPT ME!
Huckleberry – 1.5 years old, located in Washington State
PRO ID: 260211-P-D-CA
Intake Date: 2/10/26
Available Date: 3/13/26

Meet Huckleberry (aka “Huck”, “Chuckleberry” and “Chuckles”) – your future adventure buddy!

If you’re looking for a dog who’s always ready to go, Huck might be your guy. This 18 month old 40-lb ball of chaos loves fetch, toys, and keeping watch for neighborhood critters. Outside he’s all about exploring. Indoors (when he’s not being a whirlwind of craziness) he is happy to play with his people, hang out with other dogs, or relax on a cozy bed.

Huck gets along great with other dogs although his style of play can be rough, and he has solid recall even with distractions, showing how smart and eager he is to connect with his person. He’s also crate-trained and he’s a good eater.

Like many young, active Pointers who have never previously lived indoors, Huck is still polishing many skills. House training is a work in progress, he’s been known to counter-surf, and leash walking could use some practice (he gets very excited about the world!). Huck’s physical play can also be rough, so he is learning what is appropriate around human and doggy playmates. Until he’s figured that out he will not be a candidate for a home with young children and in general will need a family familiar with the chaos that a young athletic field-bred Pointer can bring to the home. Huck can also be a little shy and sensitive to certain noises, so he’ll thrive with a patient adopter who can help build his confidence.

Huck has not been cat tested, but he has a high prey drive. He is up to date on vaccines and preventatives and has been neutered. He has yet to be exposed to gunfire, but is birdy enough to be a potential hunting companion.

TRANSPORT AVAILABLE TO APPROVED HOMES! (generally within 1,500 miles)

Want to learn more about one of the dogs we have up for adoption? Fill out our adoption application!!
https://pointerrescue.org/adoption-info/
