Hubble's Story

My name is Hubble. I'm currently in a foster home while I wait for my "furever" family to adopt me. I am learning to experience so many new things, and while every new experience can be scary, once I adjust, I find it's not so terrible after all.

While beagles tend to have a reputation for being noisy, I do not fit that mold. I am very quiet! As a matter of fact, I probably have barked a total of twice in the past few months. When there is a loud unexpected noise of sudden movement, I just scramble and run as far from the source as possible. My bed is my safe place, and that is where I go for protection from the scary things.

One thing I really enjoy is running around and playing in the fenced-in yard. It is so much fun to feel the breeze in my fur, the warmth of the sun, and to experience all the different sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. Generally, I would stay outside all day, given the choice. Of course, when mealtime arrives, I am then very eager to come inside. Can't miss a meal! I am a beagle, you know!

I am making good progress learning to behave in my foster home, although I have a few things we are still working on. You see, I love to chew. And while chew toys and bones are satisfying, I find paper, leaves, mail, and dirty tissues to be equally as enjoyable. I also find digging to be lots of fun. If I can't be outside, digging at the carpet will work. My foster mom discourages this. I don't know why, but I try to make her happy, so I am working on it.

It has taken a little time, but I have become quite affectionate. As a matter of fact, I have even started to give kisses. This is actually fun because it makes the humans so happy! So, if you are looking for a sweet, affectionate beagle to complete your family, please consider me for the position. Having a family of my own will be a dream come true.

------

B.O.N.E.S. is a foster-home-based rescue organization serving dogs and potential adopters in the New England states.
