Houghie's Story

Houghie is a comical, hefty bulldawg that was never claimed. Initially he displayed some resource guarding. For example, he found a power drill in the floor board of the truck. He had the drill in his mouth and didn't appreciate any interference from anyone trying to retrieve the drill. He also likes boots and kiddie pools and does not want interference from you while he plays with them. At times Houghie seemed to want to play with other dogs but often while playing ,a switch would flip, and he would bulldoze the other dog. He is like a small dozer indeed!

His foster mom has been working with him to make him earn toys and treats so he is doing better with some work. Not long after Houghie's neuter, he developed a rectal prolapse. Our vet tried a purse-string suture which seemed to work at first but then he prolapsed again requiring a colopexy surgery. It is possible that some of his odd behavior in the past could be explained due to experiencing possible pain from his big bootie. He is now doing great with his expensive bootie and seems to have really chilled after the neuter!

Our Houghie is a special boy! Only bulldog savvy adopters that are willing to work on his little quirks should apply! All applicants must complete an application. Vet and personal references are required. Fenced yard required. Houghie absolutely must be an inside dog and kept on heartworm prevention.

If you are the person described, email RescueHeartsAlabama@gmail or follow the link to our adoption application

docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGL7b5m3YE4XRK-yCj09F0mBxt71dZr8QK5qXS56xYNY19nQ/viewform
