Horace's Story

Meet Horace!

At around 6 months old, Horace is the definition of a gentle soul.

When Horace first came into rescue, he had a heartbreaking start. He was found abandoned in a police parking lot, suffering from mange and parasites, and understandably unsure of the world around him. Thanks to the love and dedication of his southern foster, he healed physically before making the trip to Massachusetts, where hes continued to build confidence every day.

Horace is an easy dog to have around. Most mornings, his foster actually has to wake him up because hes perfectly content snoozing in his crate. If he needs to go outside, hell let you know with a little whine, take care of business, and then happily head back to his crate for another nap. (He might need a little encouragement to go in, but once hes settled, hes perfectly happy there!)

He lives with three other dogs and gets along wonderfully with all of them. Hes playful without being over the top, loves to cuddle, and has a great ability to match the energy of the home. If its time to play, hes all in. If its time to relax, hell happily curl up beside you.

Horace is still a little cautious when meeting new people, especially men. With patience, treats, and letting him move at his own pace, hes already making wonderful progress. Foster dad and his foster brother have been slowly winning him over, and its been so rewarding to watch his confidence grow. His future family should simply be willing to give him the time he needs to realize that new people can become his favorite people.

We expect Horace to stay on the smaller side, likely under 50 pounds full grown. Hes goofy, affectionate, incredibly sweet, and ready to find the family who will continue cheering him on as he discovers just how wonderful life can be.

If youre looking for a loyal best friend with a heart of gold, Horace may be your perfect match.
