HOPPITY's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.HOPPITY hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with his brother, HIPPITY, to find his forever home. He’s received two sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor” dewormer and has been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. The “Easter Duo” were found all alone with no parents so the breeds we have him listed as are just an educated guess based on what he looks like and the same can be said of the size he’ll grow to be as well. He’s a typical active, fun little puppy who loves to run around and play with toys especially the squeaky ones. He also has a few chewy toys including a Nyla bone to help with his teething. He loves to be cuddled and will snuggle right into you. Of the 2 puppies he definitely has the more timid personality and will always stand back as he watches his brother investigate something new.
HOPPITY’s just starting his crate trained and so far so good and he’s sleeping quietly in it through the night. He’ll go in there during the day too without any fuss and take a nap in there. House training has only just started so it’s very much a work in progress still. He’s just started to take short walks around the court where he’s fostered and getting used to having a leash on pretty quickly. He wears a harness as well as a collar for his walks as it prevents a lot of tugging to his neck. He’s just starting to learn his manners and at meal times to “sit” nicely for them and he’s also learning to take his treats “gentle.”

HOPPITY’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’s spent time with another puppy in the home (Viking) and he always happily greeted him with lots of tail wags. He’s met a cat but she’s not had too much interaction with him so if there’s either a cat or dog in his new home we always strongly recommend a slow, monitored introduction while he’s leashed for the first few times they meet or interact. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time and definitely not crated for more than a few hours during the day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play outside.

HOPPITY, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him to become the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in a cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.

If HOPPITY sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
