Hopper's Story

Meet Hopper!! (case #20628)

I’m about one year old, which means I’m officially a big boy... but I’m still working on remembering that my body is, in fact, VERY big. I’m a handsome Mastiff/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and I come equipped with long legs, a wiggly body, a happy heart, and a serious talent for bouncing when I’m excited!

I’m a friendly, social guy who thinks meeting new people is one of life’s greatest pleasures. I approach new friends with confidence and have been told I’m very friendly and easy to handle. I’m sweet, affectionate, and always happy to see what’s happening around me.

I’m what you’d call a medium-energy fellow. I enjoy getting out, exploring, stretching my legs, and keeping my brain busy. I’m still learning some important grown-up skills, though! My leash manners need a little work, and when I get excited, I can forget that all four paws are supposed to stay on the ground. I’m strong, too, so my future family will need to help me learn how to walk politely instead of treating every stroll like the start of the Iditarod.

I think obedience classes sound pretty great because I’m eager to learn and would benefit from some structure, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement. Give me guidance, exercise, mental stimulation, and a whole lot of love, and I’m confident I’ll grow into an absolutely wonderful companion.

As for roommates, I may be able to live with another dog after proper introductions. I’ve met a young, submissive female and was friendly with her, but I think I’d be happiest with a calm, confident canine who understands my big, bouncy personality.

Because I sometimes get carried away when I’m excited, I’d do best without young children. Older, dog-savvy kids who are comfortable around a large, exuberant dog may be a possibility.

So, if you’re looking for a big goofy boy with a sweet soul, a curious mind, and a little bit of “WHEEE! LOOK AT ME!” energy, I might just be your guy.

I’m Hopper and I’m ready to bounce my way into your heart. Please complete an adoption request:

https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions

Hopper has an appointment to be neutered on October 8th. He is looking for a local foster-to-adopt home that will return him for his surgery.

Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families.

*Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
