Hello my name is Hope and I am looking for my furever home. My foster mom also calls me ‘sweet lady’ because that is what I am. Super sweet and gentle even though I have not been treated well. I love my humans and I just want to hang out with them. I have a great disposition and love people. I tend to jump up when I am excited but with redirection I have been doing well not jumping.
I am 6 years old and have a few health issues* that are being addressed currently. I am known as a blue nose. I weigh about 55 lbs. but am on the shorter side.
I am an active girl that would do well with a buddy dog. I find the hamster very strange and intriguing and I really want to play with her, but mom tells me I can’t, and I leave her be.
I love to play with toys and interact with people, but I also am able to spend time alone in my kennel with no problems. I sleep in my kennel at night, after being tucked in of course.
My most favorite place to hang out and nap is moms lap of course. I like to hang out with mom while she is working too. I am still learning the ropes of living in a house and interacting with people indoors. I have a hard time on the bed and snuggling I have not figured that out yet. I also follow mom everywhere. Mom is teaching me that I am not going to be left behind which has helped.
I am currently perfecting my sit, stay, and shake skills. I am so eager to learn anything I am taught. I also am working on my leash walking skills. I was never taught properly on this and it is apparent. Mom is helping me with that. We work in the back yard mostly but that is because the weather has been so weird this fall and my toes are itchy, so mom doesn't want me being near the salted sidewalks.
I LOVE SNOW and I like to eat it! It’s like a cold splash in my mouth that I enjoy.
I have not been around cats, but I do have a foster brother dog and 2 kiddos that I have done very well with and that weird hamster thing in the cage. I sure would love to meet you and become a part of your family.

*Medical notes-
Hope came into the shelter in very rough shape medical wise. She had hair loss all over and a large lipoma (fatty lump) on her left back leg. She has improved greatly over the past few weeks and her coat is looking great! She does have allergy flair ups here and there. She is on Apoquel while we figure out her allergy issues. This may or may not be a long-term medication to help with allergies. It is approximately $65 a month. We also wash her feet when she comes in from outside as those are what bother her the most when her allergies do flair up. In the next few weeks, she will go into our vet for her spay and lipoma removal. We will send the lipoma out for biopsy, but they are usually harmless. We will continue to update her bio as more information becomes available.

12/21/20 Update- Hope had surgery Dec 4, 2020 to have two tumors removed and sent out to pathology. The pathology results on Hope's tumors came back as low grade mammary carcinoma. These particular tumors appear to have arisen from benign mixed mammary tumor. Carcinomas such as these tend to have a prolonged survival time. Based on her age and the prolonged survival time, we have decided not to put her body through the stress of chemo. Hope will hopefully have a few good years left but we do not know her life expectancy. We do believe she deserves a home of her own to spend her final days, months, years!
