Hootie's Story

Meet our girl with ears for days!

Hootie is currently fostered near Queens, New York. She is available for out-of-state or out-of-area adoption and transportation to her forever home can be coordinated by our rescue!

____

Hootie is a sweet, gentle 4-month-old puppy with a loving heart and a soft, thoughtful personality. Hootie and her siblings were rescued alongside their German Shepherd Mix mama from a high-kill shelter in Texas. After a journey from the South to the Northeast, Hootie is settling comfortably in her foster home in New York! Hootie currently weighs around 20/25 lbs. and will likely be a medium to large-sized dog once fully grown.

Hootie's foster Mom says she is happiest when she’s close to her people and loves nothing more than cuddling up for snuggles. While she can be a little cautious at first, Hootie warms up quickly and forms strong bonds once she has had the chance to feel safe and confident.

Hootie is an eager learner and very food-motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience for her. She is already doing well with crate sleeping and is making great progress on leash walks. With the help of her foster brother, she has been gaining confidence as she explores the world one step at a time. New York can be a busy place - and we are so proud of little Hootie's bravery! She responds best to gentle guidance, patience, and reassurance, and truly thrives when encouraged at her own pace.

She enjoys the company of other dogs and does well with calm, easygoing canine companions. While Hootie doesn’t seek out high-energy play, she appreciates having another dog around and feels most secure with a dog sibling in the home. Her play style is gentle and relaxed, and she is respectful, submissive, and easygoing with other dogs.

Her energy level is moderate, making her a great match for a home that enjoys daily walks and structured activity without needing constant high-energy exercise. Hootie is adaptable and could do well in a variety of home settings, including an apartment, as long as her physical and emotional needs are meet.

We would love to see this beautiful girl adopted into a home with another canine companion to help continue to build her confidence and to keep her company! A fenced-in yard would be a huge plus, but is not a requirement.

+++++++

ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://petsave.formstack.com/forms/petsave_adoption_application

+++++++

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

+++++++

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.

Check out all of our adoptable pups and learn more about our rescue on our website: www.stmuttsrescue.com
