*HONEY - The Dog Who Couldn't See*<br/><br/>Honey is approximately 6 months old, 12 lbs, and already knows what it's like to start over.<br/><br/>He came into our rescue as a stray — and when we say matted, we mean it. He was so terribly matted for such a young puppy that he must have lived outside in the rain to get that bad that fast. You could barely see the little dog underneath it all.<br/><br/>The day we got him, we shaved for 4 hours straight. After 4 hours, he was just done — and who could blame him? The next morning we took him to the vet to be sedated so we could finish shaving his face and front feet. Under his eyes, the mats were 1 1/2 inches thick. He could hardly see.<br/><br/>While he was under, the vet recommended we get everything done at once so we wouldn't have to pay $250 for sedation alone again — so he was neutered, had his hernia repaired, had a retained baby tooth removed, and they finished shaving him.<br/><br/>When Honey came into his foster home, it took him about a week to realize he was safe. To realize he was allowed to be a dog. To learn how to _be_ a dog.<br/><br/>Now? He is exactly what his name says.<br/><br/>We named him Honey because even after the roughest start to life, he is nothing but sweet. Pure honey.<br/><br/>He uses pee pads and we are working on training him to go outside. He's learning fast — for the first time, the world is actually visible and kind.<br/><br/>Honey will make an incredible addition to any family that will be patient, gentle, and let him keep discovering what it means to be loved.<br/><br/>This little guy went from not being able to see — to having his whole future ahead of him.
