Honey Bear's Story

From skin-and-bones to ball-chasing girl

Honey Bear has come a long way. She arrived at the shelter painfully thin and absolutely ravenous, and since then she's been working hard on her comeback. Now she's gaining weight, building muscle, and showing everyone what kind of dog she really is: friendly, playful, and full of life.

She loves attention, enjoys butt scratches, and has a fun side once she gets some energy out--especially if there's a ball involved. She knows "sit," did well for a bath, and has also done well meeting people and other dogs. In one meet-and-greet, she spent time with a family, their child, and two dogs, and handled it all nicely after an excited start.

The biggest thing to know is that Honey Bear can get very wound up around food. When she was underweight, that showed up as poor manners and grabbing too hard for treats. That may improve as she continues to recover, but she'll still need an adopter who can help her with impulse control and food manners. If you want a dog with grit, personality, and a really satisfying comeback story, come meet Honey Bear.We are open to the public Tuesday - Sunday (1PM - 5PM)! No Appointments required!
