Honey's Story
Meet Honey! This big, lovable girl is a personality PLUS and looking for a home of her own.

Honey showed up as a stray to a home in Eastern Washington a month or so ago. The people living there fed her and tried to find her owners, but no one claimed her and no microchip. She got along with one of their dogs, but another of their dogs didn’t like her. With the cold weather last month and having to keep her outside, they reached out for help, and she came to rescue.

Honey is a delight and an absolute love sponge – she loves attention and is great with people. She takes treats gently, and while I believe she’s likely spent most of her life as an outside dog, she has good house manners, is crate trained, and after a few days of decompressing, gets along well with my three dogs. She doesn’t want to fight, and has excellent dog-dog socialization skills, but she does come on STRONG at first – it took about a week she was loose in the house with my three. She likes to play keepaway with toys, but I’ve not had any resource guarding with me and nothing out of the ordinary with the other dogs, even with the many bones around the house.

She’s been here for almost two months, and from what I can tell, she’s not had an easy life. She’s likely spent time in a kennel run outside, and/or tied out. She’s got some scarring on top of her ears that could be from trying to escape a pen. The end of one ear flap is missing – an old injury - and she’s had puppies at some point in her life. And somewhere in her life she was obviously struck by an angry human (my raised voice to break up a pending scuffle had her cowering and scared of something coming next). But despite this she’s absolutely, irrepressibly cheerful – a happy-to-be-here type of girl who makes the best of whatever situation she’s in – her lil twinkie never stops wagging.

Honey is a NO CATS girl – I’m keeping my 3 cats separated (they are NOT happy) and she gets very triggered by them.

She is now spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has a clean bill of health (lab work all clear). She’s active and loves toys, and will chase the ball (LOVES the ball) and other toys. She adores the car – always eager to get in, hopping in readily (may need a little help), but does bark at things outside the car (big trucks, mainly).

Okay, I could go on but I’ll stop – Honey is a darling girl, full of life and personality, and if it weren’t for my cats I’d likely be considering keeping her.

Apply to adopt this sweetheart and enrich your life!
https://forms.spdrdogs.org/Adoption/

Washington state – no interstate transports. Oregon, Idaho, and BC homes will be considered.
