Honey's Story

Once a stray, she's still a little shy and unsure of the world, but she's learning that people can be kind and that good things are ahead. At just 1-2 years old, Honey currently weighs about 30 pounds, though we'd love to see her reach a healthier weight of around 45 pounds.

She thrived in her foster home for a few weeks while waiting on her time to shine in our 10-week prison dog-training program. She enjoyed playing with other dogs and even meet some chickens (which she didn't seem to pay attention to). We think she will be a solid pick for family life or anyone who values a four-legged friend.

During Honey's 10-weeks of training, she will work on crate and house-training, leash manners, obedience and agility. Honey is available for adoption and can go home with her adopter at her graduation which will be held on August 12, 2026. Honey’s adoption includes all vet recommended age appropriate vaccinations, rabies, microchipped, and spayed.

If interested in giving Honey the stay, loving environment that she deserves, she will reward you with loyalty, love and fun. Your new best friend is just an application away.

What are you waiting for? Apply today! Apply for the pet here

Piedmont Animal Welfare Alliance's Adoption Policy
Prospective adopters must first fill out an extensive application, after which we check their vet records, their references, and then do a home visit. After all that, they may come to the prison (with all pets) to meet the inmate-trainer, one of our instructors, a prison staff member, and a Paw Alliance representative. After a 45 minute meet and greet, if they still want the dog, and we approve of them, they are committed to adopting the dog. But they cannot adopt until the end of our 10 week training.
