Honey's Story

To apply or learn more, go to:
https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2026/4/18/puppy-honey

Meet Honey!

Honey is a 14–15 week old mixed breed puppy with a huge personality packed into a tiny body. She is spunky, social, outgoing, and absolutely loves life. Honey is the kind of puppy who wants to be part of everything — whether that’s playing with dog friends, exploring outside, zooming around the yard, or curling up beside you after a busy day.

She would thrive in an active home familiar with puppies and dogs, especially one excited to continue channeling her energy and intelligence in positive ways. Honey has an athletic, driven personality and would likely excel at activities like hiking, dock diving, bite work, agility, or other enrichment-based training outlets. She has a harder mouth and more intense play style than many puppies her age, so she will need continued structure, training, and appropriate outlets as she grows.

That said, Honey also has an incredibly affectionate side. Once she’s had the chance to exercise and play, she settles beautifully and loves to snuggle and match the energy of her people. She’s happy, silly, loving, and deeply people-oriented.

Honey adores other dogs and would likely do best in a home with a playful canine companion who enjoys wrestling and active play. Because of her intense puppy mouthiness and energetic nature, we recommend a home with teens or adults only rather than young children.

Honey came to our program with an old fracture to her patella. Despite this, she gets around beautifully — running, sprinting, jumping, and playing like a completely normal puppy. At this time, no surgical or medical intervention is needed. If anything is needed down the road, Hearts for Paws will work directly with veterinarians and the UC Davis fracture program to determine the best course of action and support her adopter through that process.

She has been left alone for up to about three hours in a puppy-proofed room with pee pads, but she is not fully house trained yet and would do best in a home where she won’t regularly be left alone for long hours.

We estimate Honey may grow to around 50 pounds, though that is only a guess. Like many rescue pups, we think she’s likely a mix of several breeds — but whatever the combination is, it produced one very smart, athletic, affectionate, and joyful puppy.

Honey is up to date on her puppy vaccines, is being adopted out on a spay agreement addendum, and is currently being fostered in Oakland. Her adoption donation is $500.

Honey is not recommended for first-time dog owners, but for the right active and committed home, she is going to be an incredibly fun and rewarding companion.

Contact us today to learn more about Honey: info@heartsforpawsrescue.com

Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home

Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.

Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue &
Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!

Email coordinators@heartsforpawsrescue.com or info@heartsforpawsrescue.com
