Hoggle's Story

Do you remember the movie Labyrinth? It starred David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and a lot of Jim Henson Creatures. Hoggle is one of the creatures in that movie. Kind of weird looking, standoffish, but he turns out to be a great friend to the heroine.

Our Hoggle is about 8 years old and was definitely kind of weird looking when he arrived at North Paw from a hoarding situation. His hair was patchy at best, his skin was rough, and he needed dental work. After a few months in loving foster care Hoggle is something of a new dog. But, honestly, hes also something of a cat. He's excited to see people when they return home but he doesn't feel the need to greet them exuberantly. He has several comfy spots he likes to rotate between. He loves observing everything thats going on. He prefers interactions on his terms. Very cat-like behavior from this small dog.

One very dog-like attribute that Hoggle does have is his love of cheese. Cheese is Hoggle's favorite thing and if you bring him cheese he'll love you forever in his own somewhat aloof way. As long as you bring more cheese the next time you want to interact with him. When he's comfortable with you though, he will snuggle up for warmth and for comfort. He enjoys playing with the resident small breed dogs in his foster home and he especially loves his foster mom.

Hoggle's ideal home will offer cheese, of course, plenty of comfy spots, and a fenced yard. A fenced yard that he should not be left unsupervised in. He's an opportunist who is clever and fast enough to dig under a fence so we recommend keeping a close eye on him and having an endless supply of cheese bribes to keep him happy. Hoggle would also benefit from a canine sibling to help him learn the routines of his new home. He should not have any young human siblings though. Loud noises and sudden movements still frighten him and he would prefer a life without anyone younger than 10 in it on a regular basis.

Hoggle is crate trained and is working hard on potty training. He hasn't quite mastered letting people know he needs to go out but kept to a schedule he does very well. He does not enjoy doing his business while leashed though which is one reason a fenced yard is ideal for him.

Do you think you can offer Hoggle the calm, quiet, cozy, and cheesy life he deserves?

Hoggle's adoption fee is $400! This adoption fee includes: his alter, his dental work, his wart removal, a microchip, his rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think he may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius. This dog is currently being fostered in Rochester, NY.
