This handsome boy has truly blossomed in his foster home and is ready to find a family who understands his needs and will continue helping him feel safe and confident.<br/><br/>Hoagie is a fantastic housemate! He is house broken, loves his crate, knows how to use the dog door, and enjoys having a routine. He absolutely loves other dogs and would do great with a canine companion. One of his funniest traits is his ability to entertain himself—give him some toys and he can happily spend hours tossing them around and making his own fun!<br/><br/>At his foster home, Hoagie is a goofy, loving guy who enjoys being part of the family. However, new situations can make him nervous, and he needs a family that understands his boundaries. Hoagie grew up in a very busy, overcrowded shelter environment where he missed out on important socialization, especially with young children.<br/><br/>Because of this, Hoagie is not a good fit for a home with small children. He becomes very uncomfortable around little ones and has growled and snapped when they approach him, even when they are being gentle. This is not something to be ignored, and his future family will need to be committed to keeping him in an environment where he feels safe and successful. Hoagie does well with adults and older teenage children who understand how to respect his space.<br/><br/>Hoagie is looking for a patient, experienced family who will give him time to adjust, continue building his confidence, and appreciate the amazing dog he already is. A home with another friendly dog, a predictable routine, and people who understand that every dog has their own comfort zone would be ideal.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, toy-loving companion who just needs the right environment to shine, Hoagie may be the perfect fit for you. ❤ï ̧<br/><br/>Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more.)<br/><br/>You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization.<br/><br/>His adoption fee is $150. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar.<br/><br/>Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org.<br/><br/>Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.<br/><br/>Our adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ **<br/><br/>- IMPORTANT INFORMATION -<br/><br/>SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas.<br/><br/>Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.<br/><br/>Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease.<br/><br/>All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative and a leash and collar.<br/><br/>We also host additional adoption events throughout the year.
