Hippie's Story
Meet Hippie 🐾 – A Gentle Soul Finally Ready for a Real Life

Hippie is a healthy senior male German Shepherd currently staying at Sawtooth Veterinary Hospital in Jerome, and he has been waiting far too long for someone to give him the life he has never truly known.

Hippie originally came to the veterinary clinic with a female companion after their owner—who had used them for breeding—decided she no longer wanted them once they could not produce more puppies. She requested that both dogs be euthanized. Thankfully, the veterinary team refused to let that happen. Instead, they had both dogs spayed and neutered and began working to find them loving homes.

Hippie’s female companion was adopted months ago. Sadly, Hippie is still waiting.

For most of his life, Hippie only knew two things: breeding and living in a kennel. Now that he is free from that life, he deserves the chance to finally experience what it means to be a dog with a home, a person, and a place to belong.

Despite his past, Hippie is a gentle, lovable, slightly goofy old soul who simply wants companionship and a peaceful place to spend his golden years. He has a beautiful German Shepherd presence and a heart that is ready to bond with someone willing to show him kindness and patience.

Because he spent his life kenneled and breeding, we do not have extensive information about how he does with other animals.

What we currently know:

🐕 May not do well with other male dogs, so introduction to other pets is required to make sure they will get along

🐾 Cats may not be a good fit

🏡 Best suited for a calm home where he can finally relax and decompress

❤️ Would thrive with someone willing to give him time, companionship, and a yard or space to explore

Hippie does not get many opportunities to socialize while staying at the veterinary hospital, and he has already spent far too long there. What he truly needs now is a person of his own and a place where he can finally live instead of just waiting.

This sweet boy has missed out on so much of life, but it’s not too late to change his story.

If you have room in your heart and home for a loyal companion who simply wants love and a second chance, Hippie is waiting.

Come meet Ol’ Mr. Hippie Dog at Sawtooth Veterinary Services – Animal Hospital in Jerome and help him finally discover what home feels like.

🐾 To apply to foster or adopt, please submit an application at:
https://www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.net

If you cannot foster or adopt but would like to help dogs like Hippie and others in need, donations are always appreciated and help cover medical care, transport, and rescue efforts.

💙 Donate to Friends Furever Animal Rescue:

Venmo: @FFAR1 (last four digits 4459)

Website: https://www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.net

PayPal: friendsfureverrescue@gmail.com

Every living, breathing creature deserves love, safety, and a place to call home.
