Hilda $425's Story

Hi I am Hilda! I am 5.5 months Bassett Hound Mix, and weigh 34lbs. I recently came from Oklahoma, where I was found on the street with my mom and sister. I am now safe in a foster home as a solo dog with two very attentive foster parents to watch over me. I am still a puppy and learning commands. I am currently mastering sit and stay. I am starting to master potty training and alerting my foster mom when I need to go out! If I do have an accident, I can use a pee pad. The first six months of my life were pretty scary, so I’m still learning that being alone can be okay. I’ll need a patient family willing to help me build confidence and trust. I’m comfy in my crate when my foster parents are home and even sleep in it, but I do get anxious when they leave. The good news is I’m working hard on this every day! My foster family is helping me with calming oils and Therapet to support me as I learn that I’m safe and loved. Once I warm up I do love belly rubs, cuddles, and to play! I am very quiet for a puppy and take lots of naps. I LOVE all my toys! I have even slept in my foster parents' bed during the past week and have had no accidents overnight. I enjoy the snow and would love a space to run and explore! I am very food-motivated, and once I feel safe, I'll be able to learn very fast! I have reluctantly taken a bath, and am good and patient through it. I also wouldn't mind a doggy friend to call brother or sister. I get along great with other dogs, but I can be frightened if they bark at me. I never show any signs of aggression, only sweetness. My foster family has enrolled me in Puppy training at Zoom Room, and I rode great in the car and slept the whole ride. I hope I can celebrate the holidays and begin the new year with my furever family.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
