Hermie (special needs)'s Story

Hermie will need an adopter who wants to take care of a dog with a variety of needs. Hermie is an intersex dog and the poor baby was dealt a poor genetic hand. Hermie will need eye drops (Cyclosporine) in both eyes for the rest of his life because he has dry eyes. Hermie also benefits from a monthly Cytopoint injection to manage his allergies. He needs his face, nose, rope, and ears cleaned it daily because of secretions.
He does need to wear a diaper because he leaks urine. We tried medication with him to tighten up his urethral sphincter (Phenylpropanolamine), but it made him severely ill and he vomited constantly and wouldn't eat. It is very easy to put a diaper on him and diapers would go with him, if anyone were to adopt him. He is also prone to UTIs and will occasionally need antibiotics to manage the condition. Thankfully, he tolerates the antibiotics. Hermie is an intersex dog and the poor baby was dealt a poor genetic hand. Surgery was considered however, the vet felt that the surgery would not benefit him medically and would be solely for cosmetic purposes. Because of this, we have decided not to put him through that and focus on his health.
He sleeps much of the day, as many English bulldogs do. He wouldn't really be a dog that could be walked every day because he does have issues with his gait and he has a swayed back.
Hermie is an absolutely beautiful, sweet boy who gets along great with all dogs. He doesn't play with other dogs and just kind of stays more to himself but he can tolerate a larger pack. If anyone is interested in taking care of this sweet boy, we can help with the medication for the rest of his life.
