Hera - ECAS's Story

I Want to Know What Love Is...

I want you to show me...Hello! I'm Hera - a medium-sized cute, sweet and lovable Pit Bull Terrier mix girl. I'm about 2-years-old and weigh around 60 lbs.

Named after the Greek goddess of family and protector of women, I carry a big heart and an even bigger dream: finding my own family to love, care for, and be loyal to.

Alongside my siblings, Ares and Iris, I came from a neglectful situation where attention, affection, and even regular meals were never guaranteed. The shelter feels like a five-star resort - full meals, a cozy kennel, a soft bed, and kind humans who smile kindly at us, play with us, take us on walks and even give us treats!

We're just beginning to learn what love is and are finally getting the chance to not just exist, but to LIVE our lives to the fullest.
When you meet me, you might think I'm still a puppy! I can get a little excited at times, but I hope you know that I'm just making up for lost time and am hungry for your affection and attention.

Toys are new to me and I need supervision when I play with them. I'd really appreciate tough, durable ones - like Kongs - that can stand up to my enthusiastic play and won't fall apart easily.

I'm quite smart and am learning better manners every day. With patience, guidance, and lots of love from my wonderful volunteer buddies, I'm slowly but surely discovering how to be the very best girl for you.

I've learned how to "Sit" for treats! I can be a little enthusiastic when taking them from your hands, but please know it comes from eagerness, not rudeness. Treats are like the eighth wonder to me, but I'm learning that I won't miss out if I take my time.

I love going on sniffaris and am quite good on the leash, though I can sometimes be a little stubborn about which way I want to go.

I can be selective with doggos, so if you have a doggo at home, please bring them along for a supervised, on-leash meet-and-greet to see if we get along.

My ideal family is patient and understanding - someone who will love me unconditionally while also helping me navigate the world through positive, treat-based training. Because of my eagerness for treats, I may not be the best fit for families with very young children.

Everyone deserves a second chance, and I can't wait to get mine with you! I want to know what love is... I KNOW you can show me.

Her adoption fee is $35, plus licensing (if applicable). The cost of her spay surgery is sponsored!

## See video of Hera at the end of the photo gallery! ##
TVAR.org/find-your-pet-adopt/dogs-puppies/

Hera's Shelter ID# is 88213. She is an approximately 2-year-old, black, Pit Bull mix. She currently weighs around 59 lbs. She has already been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed and is ready to go to her new home! Hera is located in kennel A-3.

** Age shown is an estimate only **

THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING If you are interested, please call the East County Animal Shelter at 925-803-7040 to see if this dog is still available.
