Henry's Story

Henry Is a purebred 102 lb bloodhound. He's a neutered (now) male just over a year old. He is a transplant from Tennessee with his owners who, moved her last year and recently had their first baby. They decided that a dog and a baby were too much, as young first time mothers often do. He ended up being surrendered to our rescue.
He is a big baby, super sweet, and loving. He is a little under socialized and can be a slightly hesitant when meeting new people or dogs, but quickly over comes his shyness and gets very happy and playful. He very good with all the dogs here and doesn't bother with the cat at all. He very housebroken, crate trained (loves his crate) and not destructive. He doesn't test the fences, but REQUIRES a solid fence, he's a hound dog! Bloodhounds, when fed a premium high quality food and kept bathed and brushed, do not "smell" like is often thought. They need their huge, pendulous ears cleaned with a good professional quality ear cleaner weekly to prevent yeast from developing (that cornuts smell people sometimes describe with hounds) and a high quality low protein dog food prevents excessively oily skin and coat and keeps shedding to a minimum.
He is a super cool dog, young enough to acclimate to a new home readily and even still be trained for scent work! We are seeking a BH experienced home.
