Henry's Story

Henry is very loving and cuddly inside the house! His funny and goofy personality gets him into a little trouble around the garbage and he has quite the time containing his curiosity. He loves to play and has done very good while playing with other dogs of the same size. Outside he can be a bit reactive to unfamiliar people and animals and throws a bit of a fit if he can't get to them. He's VERY treat motivated!

Henry is a Priority Paw as he has been in the shelter for a long time.

Volunteers say "Henry was super sweet, and loved getting the attention. He would need some help with leash skills as he pulled most of our walk/jog. If anyone is looking for a running partner, that loves people, this is your guy! He loved jogging with me and did not tire out until close to the end of our walk/jog. We passed a few different people and he was happy to see them. He was very excited to try to get squirrels and birds so he might not be the best with other small pets/birds."

"Met Henry today, and we spent our time at Stephens Lake Park. He was excited to be out and about. Really pulled on leash any time we were walking, but would stop immediately and come right to me when called. He loved the lake and plunged in for a swim. Had blast playing fetch with large walnuts, tossing them in the air himself so he could chase them. Would love a yard where he could run and play (especially with balls). Henry needs someone with much patience and physical strength; he's a lot of puppy! But he's a good boy with a sweet heart, and with consistent, gentle, discipline he's going to mature into a loving and loyal family member."

"Henry was such a delight and will be the best companion for someone who loves to really *play* with their dog! From the little time I spent with him, he was very intuitive and clever. He was obsessed with having his butt scratched."
