Helix's Story

I’m handsome Helix!

My foster mom says I’m a shy guy, but she has been taking me to events and working on getting me more comfortable in new environments with new faces. I still would rather approach you at my own pace, but I am getting a lot better with random strangers slowly coming to pet me. In fact, I have learned I absolutely love getting pet by my human friends, I play hard to get but secretly love chin scratches!

I love other dogs, wrestling and playing chase are my favorites! My foster mom brings me to daycare and it’s a perfect way for me to burn some of my energy and play with all the other dogs! I would do best in a home with another dog to play with and will help me feel comfortable as I adjust to a new environment.

Tennis balls are also another favorite of mine! I could play all day with a ball and you don’t have to worry about throwing a slimy ball because I have mastered tossing the ball in the air on my own! I love to try to catch it with my paws or jump on it when it lands on the ground.

I am a smart guy according to my foster mom, I will come when she calls me back inside. I also kennel up when asked and I will sleep through the night in my kennel. She says I’m an early riser as I like to get the morning going, but can you blame me? Who wouldn’t want to get up and start playing when the sun comes up.

Right now I am working on mastering "sit" and just starting on learning "place".

A few more things to know as I am still learning and my foster mom wants to find me the best home. I need a fenced in yard and a human that understands I need time to acclimate. A human that will continue my training and take me for secured walks with a leash and GPD tracker preferred (if I get away, I will be hard to catch).
