Heimdall's Story
Heimdall, Male, 11 years old

Enjoyed a sleepover with a volunteer and he loved it!! Being away from the shelter and back curled up on a couch is where Heimdall soooo belongs!!! He loves laying on the couch, with his head on a pillow, and he likes to play with stuffies!! Heimdall truly just wants to be by your side. (Yes, he slept in bed with me- and was so extremely content.) Heimdall made himself right at home and this is where he so needs to be- a home! At his age, he wants his owner home often and nearby. He honestly was such an AMAZING companion. Heimdall was great riding in the car, and oh, by the way had no problem jumping up in the bed! Please come and meet this wonderful soul!!

Heimdall (or Heimdallr) is the vigilant watchman of the gods in Norse mythology, guarding the rainbow bridge Bifrost, which connects Asgard (realm of the gods) and Midgard (human realm). His name means “the one who lights the world," reflecting his association with light and dawn!

Heimdall is an 11-year-old gentleman weighing 58 pounds, and he truly embodies what it means to be a gentle, loving soul. With his sweet eyes and calm presence, Heimdall has a way of quietly winning hearts wherever he goes.

This senior boy is affectionate, kind, and easygoing—happy to enjoy a leisurely stroll, some fresh air, and then settle in for quality cuddle time. He’s the kind of companion who will be right by your side, offering comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love. From what we observe- Heimdall seems both dog and cat friendly!!

Heimdall would thrive in a peaceful, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by warmth and kindness. If you’re looking for a devoted friend with a heart of gold, Heimdall may be the perfect match.

No appointment is necessary to adopt. Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, by visiting the shelter. Applications are not accepted in advance, but will be filled out upon adoption.

If you have another dog and/or children in your family and are interested in adopting a FAPL dog, please bring them with you for a meet and greet. Please bring a copy of lease agreement if you rent home/apartment.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are dewormed, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Dogs 7 months and older are heartworm tested.

Upon visiting FAPL, if you don’t see a particular dog you are looking for that is on the website, please ask at the front desk.
