Heath's Story
Heath is as beautiful as he is frightened, having arrived at this noisy place from the security of a foster home in WV. Just around a year old, and approximately 45 lbs., the gentle hound is happier hiding under a desk than he is walking around on leash, but is getting better every day. Heath is at his most comfortable hanging with other dogs outside and in the solitude of his kennel the rest of the time. He never complains, barks or whines. Cautious about approaching hands, he never growls or snaps, just soldiers on until — after a few minutes — he realizes that it feels pretty good to be petted.

For people seeking the boisterous "the dog will pick me" type, Heath will not be in the running, yet it is clear that he is a shunner rather than a snapper -- for now.
Scared dogs are flight risks, so Heath would benefit from experienced adopters and may be a great companion for another dog.

You can visit the dogs from noon - 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays, otherwise by appointment. We always recommend submitting an application (and a copy of recent vet records for your current pets if applicable) to info@aradopt.org.

Link to application: https://www.angelridgeanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Dog-Application.pdf
