Hazel's Story

Requirements:
-If there are other animals in the home, they must be compatible with Hazel's energy
-If there are children in the home, they must be at least 8 years old and respectful of a dog's boundaries
-Hazel's home must have a fully secured fenced yard (no apartments)

Pup-sonality:
Meet Hazel! This sweet, gentle girl has so much love to give, and once she feels safe with you, she'll quickly show you just how special she is.

Hazel is happiest snuggled up on your lap, and she has absolutely no trouble letting you know when she wants belly rubs. She loves being close to her people and will happily settle beside you wherever you are. Whether it's cuddle time on the couch or a little adventure outside, Hazel is simply happy to be a part of your day.

Hazel has done wonderfully with the other dogs in her foster home, both big and small. She sometimes enjoys playing with her canine friends, playing chase, a little wrestling, or figuring out who gets the best dog bed. She is equally content enjoying some one-on-one snuggle time with her favourite human.

She loves meeting people and is happy to accept pets from new friends. Hazel has not been around children very much yet, but her gentle nature with adults suggests that she would do well with respectful children. She has been learning to coexist with cats in her foster home. She initially wanted to chase the resident cat, but has since learned to leave him alone. With thoughtful introductions and continued guidance, she should be able to share a home with a feline friend.

Hazel is a clever pup who already knows how to come when called, lie down, and play fetch. She's eager to engage with her people and has plenty of potential to learn more. She enjoys her walks and walks nicely on her leash, although she may bark when she sees other dogs at times, mostly just trying to say hello. With good exercise, some playtime, and plenty of affection, Hazel will remain a happy girl.

Hazel is still working on her house-training, but is making good progress. She can sometimes chew things she's not supposed to, so she will need lots of appropriate chew toys and some good direction. Ideally, Hazel will not be left alone very long each day as she truly wants to be around humans and wants to feel secure knowing that she won't be left alone ever again. She may take some time to warm up, but once she knows it's forever, get ready for an abundance of cuddles, kisses, and enthusiastic belly rub requests!

If your ideal companion is sweet, affectionate, active, and happiest in your company, Hazel is ready to give you a lifetime of love in return.

Medical Note: Hazel received a Pro Heart 12 injection on July 25, 2026. Pro Heart 12 protects against heartworm disease for 12 months. She will only require Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until June 2027. For July 2027, she will require a new prescription for Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.
