Hazel's Story

Meet Hazel!  Hazel is 2-3 years old and is ready for a new life.  She is out going and does well with other dogs but would rather be an only dog.  She likes to sleep in bed and loves her walks, and is content to not go far.  She currently lives with cats and is fine with them but will for sure chase a squirrel.  Hazel will get protective of her family so she needs an owner who will give her leadership and guidance.  She is a happy, well rounded girl, all medical is done.Adopters must be within 1.5 hours from Lake or McHenry counties in IL.  If you would like to meet her please fill out the application at www.aandsrescue.org

A&S Pit Bull and Am Staff Rescue's Adoption Policy
STEP 1 APPLICATION We require that you complete and return a signed copy of the A & S Adoption Application. On this form, we require both a personal and veterinarian reference. Upon completion, please fax to 847.639.3903 or email to: aandsrescue@aol.com STEP 2 INITIAL CALL TO FOSTER PARENT After reviewing your application, A & S will contact you to discuss the dogs available for adoption. Please be patient while we review your application - we want to make sure that the match is a perfect one! We will phone you immediately after the application review is finished. STEP 3 HOME VISIT Before meeting any of our available dogs, an A & S volunteer will visit your home to perform a "home check". The purpose of this visit is to verify any information you have listed on the application (i.e. fenced-in yard, crate, etc.) and to assure that the dog will be kept inside as a member of the family. STEP 4 MEETING THE AVAILABLE DOGS After your application has been approved, you will be invited to meet the AmStaffs and Pit Bulls of your choice. We encourage you to look at all of the available dogs in our program which fit your profile. Most of our dogs are in foster homes in Northern Illinois; A & S will contact the foster family to arrange a meeting. All members of the family (including other dogs) are required to attend this initial meeting to assure a good match! STEP 5 ADOPTION CONTRACT & FEES To finalize the adoption, we will need a signed contract. Our adoption fees range from $150 to $475. Each fee is charged in accordance with the amount of medical care the dog has received at the time of adoption. If you have any questions, please email us at aandsrescue@aol.com
