Hazel's Story
Hazel 💕

Hazel’s owner passed away earlier this year and she had to be returned to us. It took her sometime to decompress and feel safe but she’s blossomed into a happy girl!

Hazel is actually a pretty rare breed called Bouvier Des Flandres or Bouv for short. They are unique breed that were used for help around the farm. Then used them as guard dogs and/or police dogs. They love their family fiercely and are very loyal to the ones they love. They are affectionate and very smart. They do tend to be wearily of strangers as they want to keep their loved ones safe and only have eyes for their family.

It may take her a bit to warm up to new people but once you’re in the Hazel club, you’re in for life. As you can see she is a very goofy girl and I swear she has beautiful brown eyes under those shaggy brows. 😂

She is nearly 2 years old, crate trained, leash trained, good in the car and was good for the groomers when her owner would take her. She previously lived with a Lab mix and a Shitzu and is use to being a house dog. She gets a long with all the dogs here. Not sure about cats. Young kids may be too much for her as she is a quieter dog.

She would enjoy a quieter home with a dog companion and someone who is gentle and kind. She goes to the dog park and enjoys being able to run around. She is not a high energy dog so daily short walks would be enough to keep her happy. However, if you wanted a dog to go farther with you on adventures she would definitely adjust!

I know there has to be someone out there for her and we will keep searching until the perfect person comes along. Hopefully someone who will love her and see how special she is just like her owner did when she adopted her. ❤️🩹

If you interested in meeting Hazel please DM us or fill out an adoption application. 🙏

https://www.hmddrescue.com/adopt
