Hazel's Story
There's something about me you'll notice right away. I pay close attention to the world around me, and once something catches my focus, I don't let it go easily.

My name is Hazel, and I've been here since 10/29/2025 after coming from Animal Services Beaumont. With people, I'm a completely different story. I'm thoughtful, responsive, and I really try to do the right thing. I know how to sit, I take treats gently, and I can stay calm even when other dogs are barking around me. If you take a moment to guide me, I listen. I like having that kind of direction. It helps me settle and feel grounded.

On walks, I can move through the kennel areas politely, especially when my handler asks me to check in. I've shown that I can focus, sit, and choose my person over distractions when I'm given clear guidance. I'm the kind of dog that does best when someone is paying attention to me and helping me make good choices.

When it comes to other dogs, I need to keep things simple. I prefer having my own space and not sharing it. I can get overwhelmed and too intense around other dogs, and once I'm in that headspace, it's hard for me to come back down on my own. Because of that, I'm looking for a home where I can be your one and only. That's where I'll feel the most comfortable and successful.

Energy-wise, I have a good balance. I enjoy being active, but I'm not all over the place. I think, I observe, and I respond best when I have structure and someone who understands me.

What I really need is someone who sees that I'm trying. Someone patient, steady, and willing to guide me instead of expecting me to figure everything out alone. In the right home, I won't feel like a lot to handle. I'll feel like a dog who just needed someone to understand her.

If you're looking for a dog who will pay attention to you, learn with you, and build a strong connection, come meet me. I think we could figure each other out.
