Hawthorne. Nka Thor's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hawthorne is a sweet little Yorkie who is discovering just how wonderful home life can be. He is a little bit over a year and a half old and 7.8 lbs of cuteness! Hawthorn came to HUGS from a commercial breeder and is now soaking up all the love he missed early on. He adores attention and would happily spend the entire day cuddled next to his foster mom if given the choice. He’s nearly fully potty trained and doing great with a consistent routine. Hawthorne is kennel trained, enjoys his toys, and settles nicely when it’s time to relax. He also gets along well with his foster siblings and enjoys short bursts of playful zoomies before quickly deciding it’s time to curl up again. He’s a gentle, affectionate little guy who thrives on companionship and being close to his people. Hawthorne would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a loyal lap dog with just the right amount of playful energy and a whole lot of love to give. Hawthorne does very well with small and bigger dogs alike.<br/>The adoption fee for Hawthorn is $500, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. Like any of our dogs, Hawthorn would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, regular grooming, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.
