Meet Hawkins!<br/><br/>Hawkins is an approximately 14 month old male chihuahua/pitbull mix. Basically, he has the look of a pitbull in a chihuahua-sized body! He currently weights 16.7 pounds. Hawkins entered rescue as his previous family had housing instability and was unable to care for him. Hawkins is black and brown. <br/><br/>If your household is divided between wanting a big dog or a small, manageable pet, Hawkins is THE PERFECT compromise. He has the muscular build, striking face, and confident presence of a classic Pit Bull, but he is fully grown at just 16.5 to 17 pounds. He gives you all the loyalty, charm, and personality of a big dog, scaled down to a true Chihuahua size that fits perfectly right on your lap. He is also very smart! Hawkins is leash trained, potty trained, and does great with kids and other dogs. Unsolicited, Hawkins loves to jump on pool floats and float around in the pool. He plays fetch AND lets you have it back to throw it again! <br/><br/>Hawkins was marking some in his foster home, but since he was neutered earlier this month, this behavior seems to have stopped. He is fully vetted, up to date on his vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.<br/><br/>Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
