Kind people would occasionally leave food out for her, but she never truly had a home, a soft bed, or someone to show her she was loved.<br/><br/>When she was finally brought to the shelter, it was clear life had been hard on her. She was underweight and matted, battling a severe ear infection, intestinal worms, and heartworm disease. On top of all that, the shelter environment terrified her. She couldn't rest, wouldn't eat, and paced endlessly in her kennel.<br/><br/>But Haven's story didn't end there.<br/><br/>At the last possible moment, a foster home through Australian Shepherds Furever stepped up, and MeeMaw began her well-earned comeback tour.<br/><br/>Over the last several months, she has healed in body and spirit. Her heartworm treatment is complete. Her ear infection and worms are gone. She has gained weight, and her once-tired eyes are bright again. Her tail wags now. She sleeps peacefully. She enjoys her meals. She knows what it feels like to be safe.<br/><br/>And let us tell you—MeeMaw has discovered the good life, and she is NOT interested in returning to her former career as a wandering street lady.<br/><br/>She's a big fan of cozy beds, regular healthy meals, gentle pets, and leisurely walks where she can sniff the neighborhood like the refined retiree she is.<br/><br/>Looking for a jogging buddy? MeeMaw respectfully declines.<br/><br/>Looking for someone to binge-watch Netflix with, supervise your snacks, and join you for relaxed strolls on leash?<br/><br/>Now you're speaking her language.<br/><br/> Haven is estimated to be about 9 years old and weighs about 40 pounds.
