Hart's Story
Meet Hart, a 10-month-old German Shepherd with a big puppy heart and an even bigger zest for life. At around 70 pounds, he's a confident, playful, goofy boy who loves being part of whatever you're doing. Even with all that energy, he's also a total cuddle bug and truly thrives on affection and closeness with his people.

In day-to-day life, Hart is happiest when he can play, explore, and then curl up next to you. He loves toys, fetch, treats, walks, and water—sprinklers and shallow pools are a particular favorite. He's smart and eager, and he enjoys mentally stimulating games as much as he enjoys physical activity.

Hart is fully house-trained and has never had an accident inside. He does very well on leash and generally walks beautifully, only pulling a bit when both dogs are walked together. He's not reactive toward people or other dogs, but he does have a prey drive and may pull and bark if he spots a cat, fox, or squirrel. The good news is that he's highly food-motivated and is easy to redirect with treats and guidance.

Because Hart is naturally protective, he can bark when strangers arrive and may need structured, controlled introductions. We keep him leashed during greetings so he can feel secure and successful.

Hart does well with other dogs and enjoys wrestling and chasing. He seems to like having a canine companion, but he would also thrive as an only dog where he can receive more one-on-one attention.

Overall, Hart is a wonderful young dog who has so much to offer. He already knows sit, stay, down, and spin, and he's currently working on off, out, leave it, find it, and take it.

Hart's ideal forever home is an active one with a securely fenced yard, committed to daily exercise, engagement, and ongoing training. He will do best with adopters who want to integrate their dog into everyday life and who appreciate a loyal companion that loves to snuggle. A household with lots of people coming and going would not be the right environment for him, since his protective instincts can make frequent introductions stressful.

If you're looking for an affectionate, goofy, smart young shepherd who will be devoted to his people, Hart may be your perfect match.

If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application, which can be easily found at www.jackjackspack.org/adopt

Once your application has been received, a member of our team will contact you to schedule a phone interview and if approved, a meet-and-greet. This process can take up to 10 days as we are volunteer run.

Please keep in mind that we select the best-qualified applicants based on the needs of both the dog and the applicant.
