Harper's Story

Hi, my name is Harper!

I’m an 11-month-old golden retriever who was rescued from a puppy mill last month along with my sister and another pup. Now I’m learning just how wonderful the world can be!

In my foster home, I’ve been working on so much! I love playing with my foster siblings (a 5-year-old human and a 7-month-old dog). In the short time I’ve been with my foster family, I’ve grown quite attached to everyone. My foster mom works from home, so I have loved being around her and my foster dog sibling during the day - I do get anxious if I can’t see her and will need some help working through separation anxiety. I also enjoy curling up on the couch for a cozy nap — cuddles are definitely one of my favorite things. I have also discovered that I LOVE playing in the snow. Mostly, I just love being around my people.

I’m fully potty trained and I sleep through the night as long as I’m near my humans. I’m still learning to feel comfortable with the crate (crate training is a work in progress!) and I’m also working on sharing toys with my furry sibling. Toys and bones are new and super exciting to me, so I will need someone to help me confidently work on resource guarding if I find a forever home with another dog(s).

I do live with a kitty. She doesn’t come around often, but when she does, I’m very curious and interested in her.

I’m looking for a patient, loving family who understands that I may need a little extra time to adjust to life outside of the puppy mill. I have so much love to give, and I can’t wait to find my perfect family to share it with.

You might notice that my eyes look a little sad. I have what's called entropion which means my eyelids roll inward which causes discomfort. I'll be having surgery to repair that later this month and by this time next month you and I both won't even remember!

Harper's adoption fee is $700! This adoption fee includes: her alter, her entropion surgery, a microchip, his rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think she may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueDogAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius. This dog is currently being fostered in Stafford, NY.
