Harley's Story

Harley is about 2 years old, standard poodle. He is a gentle giant who loves people and dogs. He is fostered with two senior dogs, 6.5 and 8.5 lbs. Harley is gentle and very good with them. One of the little dogs takes Harley's toys and he doesn't care. Harley would like to play with them but they are 12 and 17 years old so really not into playing. Harley barks at dogs and people sometimes when he meets them and then warms up quickly. When he likes you, he leans into your leg for pets. Harley played well with mom and even his puppies, being very tolerant of their puppy behavior. Harley loves his walks and play time in the yard. A fenced in yard is a plus as he loves to run around but a long 30 or 40 foot training lead will do the trick as you stay out with him and play or let him run around. He is easily re-directed when needed, like when he gets overly excited or sees others through the door window and barks. Give him some time to meet you and relax in your home and he is all yours. He prefers to lay around in the same room as his humans too. <br/>Harley's rescue story: he was rescued with his 5 puppies and their mom. He appears to have been neglected and lacked human contact. Some of the pictures are before grooming where his hair was full of feces and junk and needed to be shaved down. He was underweight at 60 lbs where his hip bones could be seen prominently but he has gained appropriate weight and is about 65lbs. He needed all of his vaccines and was most likely not given prevention medication.
