Harley's Story
This little girl is just as sweet as she is pretty. Harley, ARPH # 14423, is a 3.5 year old (1/17/19) red merle beauty weighing approximately 41 pounds. She absolutely LOVES people and is very happy to settle in for some hugs and snuggling. Harley does well with other dogs and likes playtime with her foster siblings. She would not mind a MALE doggy playmate to share in the fun. She has a typical exuberant Aussie play style so will need playmates that enjoy that kind of play as well as an owner who understands the herding behavior. She would also do well as an only dog with someone who would provide stimulation to keep her busy.

Harley has been crate trained and settles in her crate nicely. Her foster mom is working on not barging out of the crate as well as “down”, “stay” and other commands. We are looking for a home that enjoys training and is willing to continue work on these commands. A home that plans on training classes is a must for this pretty girl to help her reach her potential. Agility, Rally Nose work or Therapy work are all areas that she may enjoy. She can be a bit of a puller on the leash so may need a no pull harness to help her in this area.

Harley grew up in a home with a cat and children. Homes with children over the age of 9 will be considered on a case by case basis depending upon the dog experience of the applicants. A physical fence is required. Preference will be given to those who have previously owned a herding dog. Harley was surrendered to rescue due to financial issues her former family was having. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Harley is being fostered in the Hudson Valley area of NY.

Prior to completing an adoption application please send an email to aussieresc@aol.com telling us about your family, home, fencing, dog experience and where you are located. We are not active in the 5 boroughs of New York so will be unable to process applications from those locations. A veterinary reference and a home visit are required.
