Happy G's Story

Happy G is approximately 6 months old and was pulled from the always crowded Navajo Nation Animal Control facility in Many Farms on Friday, February 11. All animals in the facility are euthanized every Friday.

He seems to have some lab or pit or maybe both in him, as well as a little DNA from a breed with shorter legs…maybe basset hound? As a rez dog, he probably has DNA from at least a dozen breeds.

Happy G has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has been on a healthy diet that includes raw foods, no grain, low in carbs, high protein with all the essential amino acids, high in healthy fat, and supplemented with probiotics, colostrum, omega 3, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes. He is very healthy.

As a former rez dog, Happy G was completely unfamiliar with living in a home and being part of a family and it took him a few weeks to become comfortable being indoors and understanding that he is expected to be part of the team with his pup and human family members. He has not only adjusted well, but he is also now dual certified in Lap Dog and Couch Potato.

Here are some things to know about the Great Happy G:
• He is so easy going and just wants to get along. For example, he’s had two little puppy friends with extremely sharp teeth regularly biting and tugging on his face and ears and jumping around on top of him, and he just lays there and takes it.
• He’s housebroken, uses a doggy door, and knows some basic commands.
• He’s never food aggressive and takes treats softly like the little gentleman he is.
• He does not counter surf.
• He loves having a home and family and is not at all exit-seeking.
• He walks great on a leash and handles himself beautifully when he’s in public and in stores that allow dogs.
• He stays with the group when off-leash during desert walks.
• He’s non-reactive to most unknown dogs, timid around super assertive dogs.
• He’s somewhat scared of the neighborhood cat.
• He likes riding shotgun and looking out the window.
• Like any 6-month-old pup, he loves playing with his doggy pals.
• He’s generous with his kisses.
• He sometimes needs a little self-confidence boost and will be looking to his family to help him with that.
• He likes to lay his head in your lap while you watch TV.
• He enjoys going to lunch together and occasional drive-thru’s are a favorite.

Happy G is looking for a family who treats him as another family member, will continue to consistently work with him on his skills and manners so that he grows up to be the amazing adult dog he can be, continues to feed him nutritiously, brings him along for car rides and outings, takes him for walks, and has a fenced yard where he can run and play with a pup brother or sister.

If you are interested in bringing Happy G into your family, please email bigluckclub@gmail.com and request a link for an online application or if you have specific questions to ask about him.
