Happy's Story

Welcome Happy, who comes to us from the Rowan County Animal Shelter when he was turned in as a stray. He is around 10 years young, and it was determined that his owner had passed away, and he was found wandering with another dog. Happy is the perfect name for this stately gentleman and despite all that he has been through, happy is exactly how we would describe him! Do not let his age fool you! Happy still loves to go on a walk or run around the yard. And the best thing about pups his age, he can chill out with you on the couch right after - no coaxing into calmness for him. Happy will happily go on a Starbucks run with you because he enjoys car rides. He is also very compliant for baths and seems to enjoy the feel of the warm water running over his fur and skin. He is close to being house trained, he just needs a little consistency and patience. Happy LOVES people - he loves to say hi and approaches people with a ready smile and wagging tail. He also likes other dogs and does not show any aggression towards them. We think he could be in a home with another dog (or two), and perhaps even cats, with proper introductions. He would also do well as an only dog - he seems adaptable to any loving, fur-ever home. Happy was heartworm positive upon entering Rowan County Animal Shelter, but he has been receiving treatment for this and will continue to do so at our cost until he tests negative. Do yourself a favor and come and meet Happy today! Reach out to us for an application.
