Hans's Story
Meet Hans
Hans is a 7-year-old, 29-pound dachshund mix with the gentlest soul and the saddest, sweetest eyes.
He came from a heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions, yet he has remained incredibly loving, calm, and easygoing.
Hans is the biggest of the group and carries himself like the old wise man in charge.
He doesn't spend much time playing — instead, he seems content to quietly watch over everyone around him.
Hans is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, from 66-pound dogs to tiny 16-week-old puppies.
What Hans really wants most is simple: love, comfort, and a soft place to land.
He loves to snuggle in your lap and look up at you with eyes that seem to say he is just hoping someone will love him forever.
He is low energy, very easygoing, and seems to be truly enjoying life in foster care.
Hans is clean in his crate and does well both at night and during the day when needed.
He has been great in the house with no accidents.
Hans enjoys a good chew bone and treats.
He does well eating in a group and has done well on Purina dog food.
He does well with kids and teens.
Hans does not mind men or women — he is happy with whoever has the treats.
He does well on a leash and has also done well with a low fence.
Hans has had limited experience with cats, but when one hissed at him, he immediately retreated to his foster's lap in a very clear “save me” moment.
Hans is the kind of dog who does not ask for much — just kindness, patience, and someone to love him.
He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on prevention.
All Hans really wants is someone to love him.
If you are looking for a gentle, low-key companion who wants nothing more than a lap, a soft bed, and a safe home, Hans may be your perfect boy. Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family. His $200 adoption fee covers medical care to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY.
