Hankie's Story

At just a year and a half old, Hankie is a handsome mixed breed with a little bit of hound, retriever, and who knows what else thrown into the mix! Whatever his breed makeup may be, one thing is certain—he's full of personality and ready to find the right family to help him thrive.

Hankie was recently returned through no fault of his own, and while that's never easy, we're committed to finding him a home that truly understands what he needs to succeed.

This young guy already has a great foundation. He knows basic commands, has reliable recall, and responds well to correction. Like many young dogs, he still needs some polishing on his manners, but he's eager to learn and enjoys working with people.

Hankie absolutely loves attention and being around his people. He's happiest when he's included in the action, whether that's going for walks, playing outside, or simply soaking up affection from his favorite humans.

One thing his future family should know is that Hankie has shown signs of resource guarding around another dog in a previous home. Because of this, any home with other animals will need to be prepared to use appropriate management and introductions to set everyone up for success. With consistency, structure, and responsible handling, many dogs are able to make excellent progress.

Hankie would thrive in a home that values training, routine, and daily exercise. He's still young, intelligent, and eager to learn—he simply needs a family willing to continue guiding him. The investment you put into Hankie will be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be part of the family.

If you're looking for a smart, affectionate young dog and are ready to provide the consistency and leadership he needs, Hankie may be the perfect addition to your home. Come meet him and see if he's the missing piece you've been looking for.

We do not hold available/adoptable animals as we are a first come first serve facility. However, we do place animals in homes that are best fitting for that animal. If you rent, please supply your landlord's information as we cannot adopt until we speak to them directly or have something in writing approving the animal(s) allowed. If you are interested in us matching you with a forever pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire below for us to know a little bit more about you! Please keep in mind we do require vet checks and meet and greets with other dogs in the home. It normally takes 30 + minutes for the adoption process.
